Admission CriteriaAdmission to the hospice program is physician directed but general guidelines are: - The patient has a life-limiting illness that meets the diagnostic guidelines for Hospice admission.
- A physician must be willing to state that the patient has a terminal diagnosis and prognosis of approximately six months or less.
- The patient chooses palliative care versus aggressive curative care.
- The patient is not receiving skilled services related to the terminal illness under Medicare Part A.
