Volunteer Services

Hospice of Central Ohio Volunteers:  committed to meeting the end-of-life needs of patients and families--one soul at a time.

Hospice of Central Ohio (HOCO) was established in 1982 by volunteers. As we grew over the years, paid staff positions were added to allow us to expand our services and therefore better meet the needs of the people in our care. Our physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, executive, program, and administrative staff provide the clinical and technical skills necessary to support daily operations and patient/family needs. In the true spirit of the word “team”, all staff members share the privilege and responsibility of supporting people who are in the dying process, as well as their family members and caregivers.

Volunteer staff members continue in the tradition of their predecessors, giving their skills and abilities as patient companions, office support staff, and myriad other roles which expand the organization’s capacity to serve an ever-growing patient population.

Across all lines of service, volunteers and employees work together to ensure that we are providing the best care possible to the people we serve every day.
